Australian musician Keli Holiday has been forced to cut his US tour short after being denied entry at the Canadian border, with his girlfriend later apologising for a social media post about Donald Trump.
Holiday, who performs solo and as part of the electronic duo Peking Duk, said he was detained while trying to re-enter the US from Canada for a scheduled concert in New York. In a social media post on 11 May, he wrote: “Unfortunately I’m not going to make it to tonight’s show at Baby’s All Right in NYC. I have spent all day detained at the Canadian border and denied entry back into the U.S. despite having the proper visa documentation in place.”
He had already performed in Los Angeles and Toronto before the planned New York date. A representative confirmed to Billboard that Holiday has returned to Australia but declined further comment.
After his post, his girlfriend, TV star and podcast host Abbie Chatfield, apologised for a video she shared in July 2025 about US President Donald Trump. The video referenced Luigi Mangione, who is accused of fatally shooting United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. Chatfield described the video as “a (very bad) joke” and said she deleted it after seeing how it was interpreted, adding that her boyfriend had not seen the post.
The incident follows new US rules requiring foreign visitors to provide social media handles from the past five years for vetting. Comedian Dom Joly previously said he was refused entry to the US, speculating it was due to his “social media anti-Trumpisms”.
