Andy Burnham has been a busy man, announcing unfunded VAT cuts on energy bills plus £2 bus fare caps. Cost of living solved it seems! So, to be fair, the fact a dinghy full of over 100 illegal immigrants crossed into Britain on Burnham's third day in office is hardly newsworthy. Heck, what's another hundred after the Tory-Labour open borders bonanza? But it's surely a harbinger of things to come especially since the new PM is almost certain to water down plans to extend the time immigrants can lawfully apply for permanent residency to ten years.
Reform UK checkmates Labour
Meanwhile another Labour MP was recently caught in a hot mic moment saying she didn't care about the boats. Who'd have guessed? Into this heady mix, Nigel Farage's Reform appears to have checkmated the new PM!
This week, Zia Yusuf, Reform shadow home secretary, said that since Burnham makes such a splash about giving power to local communities why can't they decide whether or not they 'want unvetted illegal migrants dumped in their areas'.
We know the answer! The PM's 'Manchesterism' schtick will not extend to existential issues like where illegal immigrants land. Reform has checkmated Labour and exposed Leftist hypocrisy into the bargain.
Green and Lib Dem hypocrisy
Lest we forget, the open borders Green Party recently opposed a Home Office decision to open a camp for 600 illegal immigrants in East Sussex. Meanwhile in leafy Oxfordshire, a local Lib Dem MP also fought plans to open a camp for over 1200 illegal immigrants.
Funny that! Meanwhile, don't expect action from a new PM who thinks a 'neoliberal' Thatcherite project he gleefully signed up to during the Blair-Brown years is the only serious problem the UK faces rather than the insanity of open borders.
Burnham won't do a thing on illegal immigrants and will never give local people a say on where these folks go either. So much for power in every postcode, hey Andy?
