Donald Trump has endorsed Marco Rubio's decision to wear a grey tracksuit strikingly similar to the one worn by Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro after his capture. The US secretary of state was photographed in the outfit en route to Beijing for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The image was shared by White House communications director Steven Cheung on Wednesday, who captioned it: “Secretary Rubio rocking the Nike Tech ‘Venezuela’ on Air Force One!” The tracksuit, a grey Nike Tech ensemble, closely resembles the one Maduro was seen in following his detention.
When asked about the outfit choice, Trump remarked that Rubio looked “very good” and “outstanding”, though he added, “I don’t know if I’d do it.” The president’s comments came as the delegation travelled to China aboard Air Force One.
