Spencer Pratt from The Hills in Running for LA Mayor
Spencer Pratt Eyes LA Mayor Seat

Spencer Pratt, best known for his role in the reality television series The Hills, is currently in the running to become the mayor of Los Angeles. The 42-year-old former reality TV star is campaigning as a candidate for the Republican party and is predicted to make it to the runoff election against the current mayor, Karen Bass.

Background and Fame

Pratt first gained fame in 2005 with the short-lived series The Princes of Malibu alongside Brody Jenner. In 2006, he joined The Hills, an MTV reality show spun off from Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. The series showcased his early relationship with his now-wife, Heidi Montag. The couple married in 2009, but announced a divorce in 2010, later revealing it was a publicity stunt. They have two children together. Pratt is also the brother of Stephanie Pratt, a reality TV star known for Made In Chelsea.

Mayoral Campaign

Pratt announced his candidacy for the Republican party and has been openly critical of his opponents, particularly Mayor Karen Bass, on social media. Bass is a former member of Congress and the first Black woman to hold the mayoral office. Early predictions suggest Pratt will face Bass in the runoff election.

In a social media post, Pratt stated: "It’s time to think bigger for LA. We don’t have to accept the filth and the decline. We have the greatest slice of heaven on Earth with our city, and we deserve better. Vote for Pratt. Vote for LA. Vote TODAY. Let’s clean this city together." He also criticized candidate Nithya Raman, saying, "To my fellow Angelenos who want change, and are considering voting for Nithya Raman, I can assure you, she is not fit for the job, and she has no path to victory. A vote for Nithya is a vote for Karen Bass. I am ready to earn your vote and make LA feel safe for all."

Pratt has also addressed animal welfare issues, writing: "There’s a reason ‘Dog’ is just ‘God’, backwards; they share an unconditional love for mankind. Both Nithya and Karen Bass ignore these poor animals being killed on Skid Row and in their city shelters. They don’t care. I will put an end to this horror. VOTE to save these animals."

Family Support

Stephanie Pratt initially spoke out about her brother's campaign but later reversed her stance and has given him her support.

The mayoral election is expected to draw significant attention as Pratt, a reality TV personality, seeks to unseat the incumbent mayor.
