The Greater Manchester mayoral election will take place on Thursday, July 31, following Andy Burnham's departure from the role after becoming Prime Minister and Labour leader.
Recent polling by Findoutnow suggests Bev Craig, the current leader of Manchester City Council, could win with relative ease. The poll of 1,505 residents, conducted between July 7 and 13, indicated Labour could secure 38% of the first vote, but not a single majority.
Reform UK candidate: Sian Niamh Astley
Sian Niamh Astley is the Reform UK councillor for Baguley, elected earlier this year. Her statement to voters reads: "I am delighted to be chosen as Reform UK’s candidate for Mayor Greater Manchester - I am determined to improve communities and the lives of working people."
Green Party candidate: Geraldine Coggins
Geraldine Coggins is a Green Party councillor in Altrincham. She said: "People are feeling abandoned by Labour and want real change to deliver affordable homes, thriving local communities, and a healthier environment."
Labour and Co-operative Party candidate: Bev Craig
Bev Craig, leader of Manchester City Council and councillor for Burnage, stated: "Greater Manchester is a special place – from the industrial revolution, the trade union and cooperative movements and the suffragettes – this place has always fought for progress."
Conservative and Unionist Party candidate: Phil Eckersley
Phil Eckersley, Conservative councillor for Bowdon, wrote: "I am honoured to have been selected... Greater Manchester is my home, and it's a region with enormous potential, but too often decisions are made with a focus on Manchester city centre - with the outer boroughs getting left behind."
Independent candidate: Marcus Jonathan Farmer
Marcus Farmer is running as an independent, having previously stood in 2017.
Liberal Democrat candidate: Richard Martin Kilpatrick
Richard Kilpatrick, Lib Dem councillor for Didsbury West, pledged to tackle the cost of living crisis, improve public services, and deliver housing for the region.
Restore Britain candidate: Marlon Scott West
Marlon West is Restore Britain's candidate. His statement reads: "West is one of the most prominent campaigners against the rape gangs in the country - he spent more than two years forcing the government to establish a national rape gang inquiry."
