Nigel Farage has issued a warning to Elon Musk over potential interference in the Makerfield by-election, as the Reform UK leader faces being outflanked by hard-right rivals. In an emergency address, Farage linked the murder of student Henry Nowak to what he called 'anti-white prejudice' and called for 'white lives matter' recognition.
Farage's intervention came after police footage showed Nowak handcuffed while pleading for help after being fatally stabbed. The Reform leader urged the attorney general to review the sentence of killer Vickrum Singh Digwa, but his populist rival Rupert Lowe went further, pledging that Digwa would have been 'put to death' under a Restore Britain government.
Musk, a critic of Farage and backer of Lowe, has taken a keen interest in the case, tweeting heavily and pledging to fund a wrongful death lawsuit against police. Farage's warning signals concern that Lowe's party could take enough votes to cost Reform the Makerfield by-election.
The case has been seized upon by ethnonationalist far-right groups, who have used AI to create memes and amplify racist narratives. Farage, meanwhile, has been unusually reticent to host press events amid revelations about a £5m gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and his claim that his phone was hacked by Russians.
