Jasmine Crockett's Senate Bid Marred by Website Gaffes
Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett's campaign for the United States Senate has been embarrassed by multiple glaring errors on her official website, forcing her team into a rapid correction scramble. The 44-year-old Texas representative, who launched her Senate campaign two months ago, published content detailing her stance on critical social issues that appeared completely unproofread before going live.
Placeholder Text and Misplaced Priorities
Under the campaign slogan 'Crockett Texas Tough', a bulleted list outlining the liberal firebrand's priorities contained several significant mistakes. Most notably, in a section discussing mental health coverage, Crockett's team seemingly forgot to delete the placeholder instruction 'write out your bullet point here' that commonly appears during website construction.
Before edits were implemented, senior CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere spotted the original text which read: 'Requiring all major insurance providers to include full mental healthcare coverage, including prescription medications and therapiesWrite out your bullet points here. Anything from a sentence to a paragraph works.' The bullet point has since been shortened to simply: 'Requiring all major insurance providers to include full mental healthcare coverage, including prescription medications and therapies.'
Additionally, online investigators discovered that Crockett's campaign had originally placed a bullet point praising her work on gun control within the Social Security section of her website. This geographical error has subsequently been amended following public exposure.
Social Media Backlash and Campaign Scrutiny
Internet users quickly took to social media platforms to criticize the congresswoman's digital missteps. One user posted on X: 'Hot mess Jasmine Crockett's messy website,' while another commented sarcastically: 'A very serious campaign that is definitely trying to win and not grift.' A third observer suggested: 'Somebody used chatgpt to iterate and no one read the final graphic lol.'
Some commentators found humor in the mental health section blunder, with one stating: 'To be fair, that's not bad advice,' and another sharing: 'That’s good advice. Letting your feelings flow on paper is good for your mental health.'
Campaign Context and Personal Controversies
Crockett, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump whom she has branded 'Temu Hitler' while calling his supporters 'mentally ill', announced her Senate bid in December after ex-congressman Collin Allred withdrew to avoid a contentious primary battle. Allred stated he dropped out to prevent an ugly primary contest and a likely runoff that would be triggered if no candidate receives a majority in the first round of voting on March 3.
The two-term representative, known for her feisty political demeanor and colorful rhetoric including calling Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene a 'bleach blonde bad built butch body', is set to face off with Representative James Talarico in the Democratic primary. The winner will challenge Republican incumbent Senator John Cornyn or a primary rival like Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Beyond her website troubles, Crockett has faced scrutiny over her personal financial dealings. In November, Federal Election Commission filings revealed her campaign spent at least $75,000 on exclusive hotels, transportation, and security services last year. That same month, court records showed she refused to pay more than $3,000 on an unpaid lien against her upscale Dallas condominium.
According to a lien filed on April 11, 2024, and reported by Fox News Digital, Crockett has owed $3,047.79 to the Westside Condominium Association for over a year. The lien gives the association legal claim on her property and prevents her from selling the unit until the debt is settled. The document states Crockett 'is in default in her obligation for payment of assessments and has failed and refused and continues to fail and refuse, despite demand upon her, to pay the Association assessments and related charges properly levied against the Property.'
Crockett purchased the condominium, described as a 'refreshing retreat' with a clubhouse, pool, stunning kitchens, and bathrooms 'designed with spa-like features' according to Homes.com, in May 2014 according to county records. The Daily Mail contacted Crockett's campaign team for comment regarding both the website errors and the financial controversies.
