Yerin Ha, who shot to fame playing Sophie Baek in the fourth season of Netflix's Bridgerton, has secured another high-profile role. The actress will star in a new production of Jean Genet's 1947 play The Maids at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, running from 17th May to 14th June.
Ha will portray the abusive employer known as Madame, while Phia Saban from House of the Dragon and Olivier Award nominee Lydia Wilson take on the titular maids, Solange and Claire. The production is directed by Kip Williams, who previously helmed a critically acclaimed staging of The Picture of Dorian Gray.
The play, described as a 'masterpiece' by critics, was previously staged at the Donmar Warehouse in London in 2024. Williams' reimagining promises to 'reset' the story for the digital age, with a synopsis noting that the maids act out fantasies about their influencer employer, blurring performance and reality.
Ha's casting follows the release of the second half of Bridgerton season four on 26th February, in which her character Sophie marries Benedict Bridgerton. The actress also has roles in Halo, The Survivors, and Dune: Prophecy.
