Vernon Kay returned to BBC Radio 2 on Monday morning after a Caribbean holiday, but had some “bad news” for co-star Gary Davies. The 51-year-old presenter revealed he had pulled his back while lifting furniture on Friday, forcing him to see a chiropractor this week.
Gary had asked if Vernon played golf during his break, prompting the update. Gary joked they would have to delay their planned round, but Vernon quipped they could still play if Gary wanted an easy victory. Gary replied: “Then let’s go out. It’s the only chance I’ll ever get.”
Vernon expressed concern about their local course lacking buggies, but Gary assured him they could get one, as he himself has a “dodgy achilles” and “dodgy knee”. Vernon said he would see how the chiropractor goes, adding that the “weather is beautiful”.
Gary also revealed that fellow Radio 2 star Trevor Noah is “waiting to play” against Vernon. While Vernon claimed he had “already beat” Noah, Gary insisted Noah is in form, having shot seven over par recently. Vernon joked he might “stick with the bad back until his form dips”.
During the holiday, Vernon’s wife Tess Daly shared photos on Instagram wearing her swimwear brand Naia Beach, which she co-founded in 2021. The post received comments from Claudia Winkleman, Kirsty Gallacher, Vicky Pattison and Angela Scanlon.
