Tess Daly has made a return to television screens, hosting Wednesday's episode of The One Show alongside her husband, Vernon Kay. This marks her first presenting role since stepping down as host of Strictly Come Dancing after 21 years.
The 56-year-old presenter first joined Strictly in 2004 alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth, later co-hosting with Claudia Winkleman. Her appearance on The One Show also represents the first time in nearly 20 years that she and Vernon Kay have presented a programme together.
Opening the show, Kay introduced Daly as “TV royalty,” to applause. During the episode, the duo were joined by guests including Jessie Buckley, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Bridgerton stars Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha.
Viewers on social media expressed delight at seeing the couple on screen together, with many noting it was the first time they had co-hosted in two decades. The couple previously presented the BBC singing competition Just the Two of Us between 2006 and 2007.
Daly and Kay married in 2003 and have two daughters, Phoebe and Amber. They first met while working as presenters on separate shows for ITV and Channel 4.
