One viewer tweeted: "Is Sally Nugent driving a coach later on? #BBCBreakfast." Another asked: "Is she auditioning for a Ribena advert perhaps?" A further viewer compared her outfit to Jack Nicholson's Joker suit from the 1989 Batman film.

This is not the first time BBC Breakfast presenters have faced scrutiny over their attire. Last month, Rachel Burden and Victoria Fritz drew complaints for their glamorous outfits on the Sunday edition, with one viewer suggesting they looked like they had "come back straight from clubbing."
Conservative MP David Davies previously criticised the BBC's informally dressed reporters, stating: "A suit would be more appropriate. I was brought up in the Seventies - but personally I think you have got to dress for the occasion and that means smart clothes for TV."
