Ruth Langsford Opens Up About Body Confidence Struggles and Ibiza Avoidance

In an exclusive revelation, beloved TV presenter Ruth Langsford has candidly discussed her ongoing battles with body confidence, pinpointing the specific part of her physique she dislikes the most. The 65-year-old Loose Women star, who recently released a memoir and self-help book titled Feeling Fabulous, admits that she does not always feel amazing, especially during high-profile red carpet events where anxiety over her appearance takes hold.

The Neck: A Source of Self-Consciousness

Ruth Langsford has identified her neck as the primary area of concern, expressing how television cameras exacerbate her insecurities. "I am self-conscious about my neck, particularly if the camera gets too close. It's all I can see on screen," she writes in her book. She highlights the unforgiving nature of television, which can "add ten pounds and show every single wrinkle and the turkey neck," making her feel exposed in the public eye.

Despite working in an industry where cosmetic procedures are commonplace, Ruth has refrained from Botox or fillers, though she acknowledges she is "often tempted and never say never." She emphasises that invasive actions do not sit comfortably with her, but she respects others' choices, stating, "No shade on others who have 'tweakments' and plastic surgery; each of us needs to feel empowered to do what we want to our own bodies and faces." She questions the motivations behind such procedures, pondering whether they are for oneself, to impress men, or to keep up with other women, suggesting the latter might be a significant factor.

Rejecting Pressure to Love Her Body

Ruth Langsford also challenges the pervasive narrative urging women to love their bodies unconditionally. "I'm a bit sick of being told to love my body. I will decide if I do or I don't, and at this age, I don't love it. There, I've said it," she declares. She clarifies that this lack of confidence is not solely due to aging, as she has never been body confident, even in her youth, avoiding skimpy clothing and short skirts.

This sentiment extends to her social life, as she firmly rules out attending pool parties in Ibiza. She describes such events as "hellish," imagining scenarios where she might be expected to lounge in a bikini amidst crowds in thongs or beach-ready bodies. "That sort of situation would have me running for the hills. No thank you very much," she asserts, making it clear that Ibiza raves are not on her agenda.

Looking Ahead with Positivity

Despite these personal struggles, Ruth Langsford remains optimistic about the future. In a recent interview, she expressed excitement over her new book, upcoming trips, and her fashion range at QVC. "I have an open mind to new things that might come into my life. Who knows, but I feel 2026 is going to be a good one," she shared, reflecting a forward-looking attitude.

Her book, Feeling Fabulous: Be your best self, no matter what life throws at you, also delves into her career and family life, including her split from ex-husband Eamonn Holmes in 2024, which she described as "a huge shock." Released earlier this week, the book has already garnered attention from fans, offering insights into her journey towards self-acceptance and empowerment.
