Ross Kemp has filmed his final scenes as Grant Mitchell on EastEnders, following a brief return to the BBC soap. The actor was spotted leaving Elstree Studios, where he waved to fans and posed for photos before heading home in casual attire.
Kemp's return was part of an 'explosive' storyline, with his character summoned back to Walford by his estranged son, Mark Fowler Jr, who recently discovered Grant is his biological father. The storyline also intertwines with Nigel's ongoing dementia plot, which Kemp said holds personal meaning due to a family connection.
Show bosses confirmed Grant's return in a social media post, stating he would make a dramatic comeback this spring. They added that his arrival coincides with the deteriorating health of family friend Nigel, and promised explosive drama, though full details remain under wraps.
Grant Mitchell, one of Walford's most iconic characters, has been involved in numerous scandals over the years, including the infamous 'Sharongate' affair with his brother Phil's wife, Sharon Watts, which drew over 25 million viewers in 1994. His turbulent marriage to Tiffany Raymond, marked by abuse and affairs, ended with her death in a car accident in 1998.
Kemp previously returned to EastEnders in 2005 for a fixed period, leaving in 2006, and again in 2016 for Barbara Windsor's final scenes. His latest stint, filmed earlier this year, marks his final appearance as Grant Mitchell.
