Rose Leslie, known for her role in 'Game of Thrones', is set to join Oscar winner Russell Crowe in the action-drama 'The Last Druid'. The film also stars Andreas Pietschmann and Daniel Zovatto. Production is scheduled to begin on June 8 in Barcelona and the Canary Islands, Spain.
The story follows a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder, played by Crowe, must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation. This marks Crowe's return to historical combat roles, a quarter century after his iconic performance in 'Gladiator'.
William Eubank is directing from a script co-written with Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank. The film is produced by Adrián Guerra, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, and Ben Pugh, with executive producers including Núria Valls, Xavier Parache, and Stuart Ford.
AGC, led by Stuart Ford, has pre-sold the film in multiple international markets, including to Amazon for several territories. The company will continue sales at the Cannes market. Key crew members include director of photography Agustin Claramunt, production designer Laia Colet, and costume designer Alberto Valcárcel.
Financing was arranged by Range Media Partners and CAA Media Finance with Nostromo Pictures. Range Media and CAA are representing US rights, while AGC International handles global sales.
