Naga Munchetty's Rarely-Seen Husband: TV Director James Haggar

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty, 49, has been a permanent fixture on the show since 2014, but she keeps her personal life largely private. She is married to television director James Haggar, whom she wed in 2007. The couple's wedding day was not without mishap: Munchetty revealed on her BBC Radio 5 Live show that she fell over in her large, puffy wedding dress during their first dance to 'You're Just Too Good To Be True'.

Haggar is a television director and broadcast consultant who has worked for CNBC, Sky and ITV. From 2015 to 2021, he was a senior director on Sky News' panel show The Pledge, before becoming creative director at GB News. The couple's first date took place at a pool hall, reflecting their shared love of snooker and pool. They also enjoy golf together, which Munchetty says gives them time to walk, talk and catch up.

Munchetty has credited the longevity of their marriage to advice from Haggar's aunt: 'Simply be kind to one another.' She told The Guardian in 2016 that this advice was spot on. The presenter also revealed that she and Haggar do not argue, describing him as 'definitely the better half' on the Her Spirit Podcast. She does not celebrate Valentine's Day, considering acts of kindness, such as giving her husband a head rub, to be the most romantic gestures.

Munchetty has also spoken about Haggar's social views, noting in a 2019 interview with Glamour that he 'proudly declares himself a feminist'. The couple have chosen not to have children, a decision that has attracted criticism. Munchetty recalled being called 'wicked' for denying her mother grandchildren, but she remains comfortable with their choice.
