Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley Grace PGA Awards 2026 in Los Angeles
Stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley made a stylish appearance together at the Producers Guild of America Awards 2026, held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The co-stars of the historical drama Hamnet appeared in high spirits throughout the evening, despite their film missing out on the evening's top honour.
Hamnet Falls Short in Prestigious Category
The film Hamnet, which explores the story of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes coping with the death of their son, was nominated in the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures category. However, the prize was claimed by Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor and Regina Hall.
This victory brings One Battle After Another significantly closer to potential Oscar glory, as the Zanuck award winner has gone on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 17 of the past 22 years. Anderson accepted the award alongside producer Sara Murphy during the ceremony.
Mescal and Buckley Take the Stage in Style
Despite the competitive loss, Mescal and Buckley participated actively in the ceremony, presenting an award on stage. Buckley, aged 36, showcased sophisticated fashion sense in a sleek one-shoulder black dress, complemented by strappy heels and elegant diamond earrings.
Mescal, 30, demonstrated his distinctive personal style with a brown jacket, relaxed trousers and a striking red tie. The actors' poised presentation demonstrated their professional grace amid the competitive atmosphere of Hollywood's awards season.

The PGA Awards ceremony attracted numerous Hollywood luminaries to the Fairmont Century Plaza in Beverly Hills, with attendees awaiting winners with palpable anticipation. The theatrical motion picture category featured several acclaimed films positioning themselves as Oscar contenders.
Alongside Hamnet and the victorious One Battle After Another, the category included Brad Pitt's racing film F1, Timothée Chalamet's Marty Supreme directed by Josh Safdie, and Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia starring Emma Stone.
Other notable competitors were Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, the Norwegian production Sentimental Value, the mystery thriller Weapons, the historical picture Train Dreams, and Ryan Coogler's vampire film Sinners, which holds the record for most Oscar nominations of all time.
Recent Success for Hamnet at British Awards
Although Hamnet did not triumph at the PGA Awards, the film recently achieved recognition at the 2026 British Academy Film Awards, where it won Outstanding British Film. Mescal, who portrays William Shakespeare in the production, attended the BAFTA ceremony with his girlfriend, singer Gracie Abrams.
The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2024 but maintained privacy until recently, shared a public kiss when the win was announced. Mescal received a BAFTA Supporting Actor nomination for his role but lost to Sean Penn for One Battle After Another.
The Normal People star and Abrams made their official red carpet debut as a couple before the BAFTA ceremony, marking a significant public moment for the previously private pairing.
