Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B or Scary Spice, has hinted that the Spice Girls may reunite to mark the 30th anniversary of their debut single 'Wannabe'. The 51-year-old singer told the Press Association that the group 'should be doing something' to celebrate the milestone, which falls on 26 June.
Brown, who rose to fame in 1996 alongside Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner, said the band are discussing potential plans. 'It's our 30th anniversary, I do think we should be doing something,' she said. 'Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but we're all talking about it because, if not anything, just for our fans.'
The Spice Girls last performed together at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony and embarked on a reunion tour in 2019 without Beckham. Brown, who has been a driving force behind previous reunions, stressed that nothing has been confirmed or signed off yet.
In a separate interview, Brown also discussed her children's perception of her fame, noting they see her as 'just mum' rather than a global superstar. She is currently fronting a campaign with mobile network O2 to combat 'doom-scrolling' and encourage people to put down their phones.
