Chris Fusco, a contestant on the Netflix reality show Love Is Blind, has issued an apology after a scene showing him telling his former fiancée Jessica Barrett that he usually dates women who do Pilates every day went viral.
Fusco, a 33-year-old account executive, and Barrett, a 39-year-old infectious diseases physician, had formed a connection in the pods, but their relationship soured during a trip to Mexico. In the clip, Fusco tells Barrett that in the "normal world" he dates people who do CrossFit, adding that he finds it hard to be "physically into it" with someone who does not work out daily.
Speaking to Netflix's Tudum, Fusco said he did not regret being honest but regretted the way he expressed himself. "I was not trying to hurt her or crush her as a human being," he stated. "I was about to marry this person in a couple of weeks and I didn't know how to get past this problem."
Barrett told Tudum that she has "a lot of security" in who she is and believes the conversation ignited personal issues for Fusco that "really had nothing to do with me." Viewers criticised Fusco's remarks on social media, with one describing the reaction as "dodging a bullet."
New episodes of Love Is Blind USA will be released on Netflix on February 25, with the finale scheduled for March 4.
