Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has revealed he broke his collarbone in two places during a skiing accident. The 53-year-old actor, best known for playing DI Humphrey Goodman in the BBC drama, appeared on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Monday with his arm in a sling.
Describing the incident as a 'middle class' mishap, Marshall said: 'It's a slight skiing mishap, which is probably the most middle class thing I've ever said in my life.' He added that it was his first skiing injury, despite skiing frequently, and occurred while attempting jumps with his 14-year-old daughter Elsie.
The actor, who also starred in Love Actually, admitted he is somewhat accident prone, recalling an incident nearly 20 years ago when he was hit by a car in Bristol, resulting in a collapsed lung and head injuries. 'These things sort of happen to me, I don't know why,' he said.
Marshall led Death in Paradise from seasons 3 to 6 and has reprised his role in the spin-off Beyond Paradise since 2023. Fans have speculated he might leave the show after his character was forced to decide which team member to axe. Marshall said his character 'hates any kind of authority' and dislikes the pressure of responsibility.
