She argued that the British monarchy “has some purpose after all” when it speaks as an observer of current political wrangling, adding: “The lad, as Trump’s mother remembers him, done great.”
Peter West of London recommended indoor climbing to older readers, saying it involves no rain, is safer than cycling, and is “much more interesting than the gym”. He wrote that he started climbing in his late 60s and began a group at the age of 74.
Trevor Hopper of Lewes, East Sussex, a 70-year-old reader, raised the question of whether there should be social media restrictions for the over-65s, given the “noted role of social media in promoting harmful conspiracy theories” among older people. His letter came after ministers were reported to be open-minded on the shape of UK social media limits.
Finally, Pete Bibby of Sheffield responded to a previous request for better civil service job titles, suggesting “unprincipled private secretary” as a candidate.
