Katherine Ryan Brought Newborn to Facelift, Reveals 'Hurtful' Biological Age
Katherine Ryan Brought Newborn to Facelift, Reveals Age Shock

Canadian comedian and writer Katherine Ryan has shared an unconventional update on her recent cosmetic procedures, revealing she brought her eight-week-old baby daughter to her facelift appointment. The 42-year-old star, known for her candid humour, made the surprising disclosure during an appearance on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show.

Bringing Baby to the Procedure

Ryan explained her unusual decision to have her newborn accompany her during the surgical procedure, stating medical staff had never witnessed such a scenario before. "I'm the only person who had a facelift with a newborn baby," she recounted. "I said I had to bring her, she's my goal weight."

The comedian previously confirmed undergoing multiple cosmetic tweakments including a facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and facial fat transfer. She humorously attributed her decision to pursue these procedures to motherhood, quipping: "After I delivered my last child, I decided to get a facelift just to p*** off my enemies."

Rapid Recovery and Christmas Celebrations

Despite the invasive nature of the surgery, Ryan maintained she resumed normal activities almost immediately. "I went home the next day, and I did Christmas. I took the kids to Lapland, I went to Christmas parties. I just carried on with my normal life," she shared.

The comedian did acknowledge some visible effects from the procedure, noting: "I was bruised looking. I wore a balaclava to a Christmas party, which was unsettling for some of the guests."

Biological Age Revelation

Elsewhere in the interview, Ryan discussed findings from her podcast What's My Age Again?, which explores questions of physical versus chronological age. The results proved startling for the comedian, who revealed: "Brace yourself, it was hurtful. I'm 42, my biological age is 77. It's almost over for me."

She shared insights gained from the podcast research, mentioning: "There are a lot of really cool takeaways. Cold plunges are really effective. I am taking magnesium now. I eat 30 plants a week."

Motherhood and Family Life

Ryan, who welcomed her fourth child Holland Juliette in October last year, spoke candidly about her experience as a mother of four. She and husband Bobby Kootstra, married since 2019, are parents to Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, three. Ryan also has a 16-year-old daughter, Violet, from a previous relationship.

Reflecting on her expanding family, the comedian remarked: "You don't know you've had enough until you've had that one too many. I've maxed myself out. It's over." She added: "It is a miracle and I feel very blessed. It's really exciting to be done though."

Literary Project and Family Dynamics

The conversation turned to Ryan's upcoming book titled First Born Daughter, which explores themes of womanhood and intergenerational relationships. "I discovered on tour, a lot of people who like me, happen to be first born daughters," she explained.

The project includes contributions from her teenage daughter Violet, with Ryan noting: "It's interesting to include my daughter. She's 16 and to get some of her perspective. I'm writing most of it and she does 10%, which is a big ask of a 16-year-old."

Recent Family Holiday

Last month, Ryan shared glimpses of a family vacation with her four children, humorously referring to her "fertility addiction" in social media posts. She posted clips of her children piled into a double buggy during the resort holiday, captioning one image: "An advert for condoms."

Another post praised the buggy brand while adding the tongue-in-cheek hashtag: "#notanad #butsortofanadforcondoms."

The full interview featuring Katherine Ryan, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, Alan Davies, Mawaan Rizwan, and singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro airs on Saturday's episode of The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV.
