Kara Tointon rose to fame as Dawn Swann, the step-sister of Mickey Miller, portrayed by Joe Swash, quickly becoming a fan favourite. In 2009, Dawn left Walford with Garry Hobbs and her daughter Summer, seeking a fairy-tale ending on a canal boat.
However, Tointon revealed that the decision to axe her character was emotionally challenging. She told the Daily Star at the time, "I was heartbroken when they told me, and I have to admit I did cry. I just have to dust myself down and get back out there. I've already told them that if they do plan to kill Dawn, I will refuse to close my eyes in the dying scenes!"
