Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have proudly showcased their newly designed nursery at their £12 million London residence, revealing a tranquil and cosy space dedicated to their baby son Ziggy. The couple, who recently launched their television series documenting their journey as first-time parents, have crafted a serene bedroom for their child within their extensively renovated West London townhouse.
Scandinavian-Inspired Design and Personal Touches
Embracing a Scandi aesthetic that permeates their entire home, the nursery is adorned with warm neutral tones, accentuated by a bold gingham wallpaper and plush soft furnishings. This attic room, described as both tranquil and cosy, is furnished with items from the highstreet brand Mamas & Papas, including a £1,048 two-piece cotbed and dresser changer set.
Drawing inspiration from their own childhood memories, Jamie, aged 37, selected a green striped rocking horse for Ziggy, reminiscent of a similar piece from his own nursery. Sophie, 31, contributed to the calming atmosphere by hanging a cloud mobile above the cot, enhancing the room's peaceful vibe.
Emotional Journey and Practical Decisions
"Creating our dream nursery has been such an emotional and special part of the journey. We wanted a space that felt both beautiful and practical, and every piece we chose strikes that balance - it just feels perfect," the couple expressed enthusiastically. They added, "There were so many decisions when preparing for Ziggy’s arrival and the guidance in our ‘Buying for Baby’ appointment made everything feel so much calmer and more considered."
Television Debut and Home Renovations
The first episode of Jamie and Sophie's new show, Raising Chelsea, premiered on April 2, capturing their race against time to complete their home renovations before the birth of their first child. This three-part series follows the former Made In Chelsea stars as they navigate the realities of parenthood, from early pregnancy through labour to welcoming Ziggy, now nearly four months old.
Much of the debut episode focuses on the extensive makeover of the £4.1 million property they purchased prior to the birth. Following a comprehensive renovation, the home is now valued at an impressive £12 million, with the series offering fans an exclusive glimpse into all the rooms, showcasing the transformation before, during, and after the updates.
Financial Challenges and Marble Floors
During the show, Jamie discusses the substantial costs associated with the renovations, attributing part of the expense to Sophie's "expensive taste." In one scene, the couple meets with building project planners to finalise design choices, revealing details about the marble floor downstairs, which cost a staggering £44,000.
Jamie is filmed saying, "If it was down to me, I would go for a little wood and like, stone, and maybe like a golf simulator, that would be my taste, but Sophie's taste is now that." He later remarks to the builders, "Everything she picks is the most expensive... 'Oh, I quite like that one', obviously because it's the most expensive."
Expressing his concerns, Jamie adds, "Jack, I didn't realise how expensive marble was. They have quoted £44,000. I had a panic attack, and got over that, we can't do that, it's a complete and utter joke. Bills are coming out of your a***hole, and it's going to be this budget, and then it's not this budget, they set you a timeline, and then the timeline goes way over."
In a candid moment, Jamie tells Sophie, "You better love this place. I'm being serious, it's a lot," to which she retorts, "All you talk about is the money, it's embarrassing."
