A man from Montana has proposed to his girlfriend of three years in an unconventional way—by presenting her with a golden retriever puppy during a staged photoshoot. Joel Booth, 30, a dentist, surprised Kadie Latimer, 28, an aesthetician, with the puppy at Glacier National Park on 11 July 2019.
Kadie believed she was modelling for local photographers at sunset, but Joel had orchestrated the entire event. When she turned around, Joel was holding a golden retriever puppy. The dog's name tag read 'Kadie', and underneath it said 'will you marry me?'. Kadie initially thought Joel was joking, but he then got down on one knee and proposed.
The couple named the puppy Bowie, after Bowman Lake where the proposal took place. Joel had planned the proposal for months, having previously owned a male golden retriever named Jackson for three years. He said he wanted to do something special for Kadie that she would never forget.
Kadie described the moment as overwhelming in the best possible way, leaving the park with both a puppy and a diamond ring. The photographers, Jeremiah and Rachel, helped stage the fake photoshoot to keep the surprise intact.
