While international attention has waned following a nominal ceasefire in Gaza, a relentless campaign of Israeli military force is intensifying across Palestine and the wider Middle East, according to a detailed analysis of recent events. The so-called truce has merely become a 'reducefire', failing to halt a broader pattern of bombardment, ground incursions, and mounting civilian deaths that now stretches from the Mediterranean coast to the Syrian border.
A 'Dangerous Illusion' in Gaza and Escalation in the West Bank
The situation in Gaza remains catastrophic despite the reduction in large-scale attacks. Agnès Callamard, Amnesty International's secretary general, has warned of a 'dangerous illusion that life in Gaza is returning to normal'. The reality is stark: not a single hospital is fully operational, and with worsening weather, thousands remain exposed in inadequate shelters. Since the ceasefire began on 10 October, Israeli authorities have blocked the entry of nearly 6,500 tonnes of UN-coordinated aid, including essential water, food, and medical supplies from multiple NGOs.
Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, a severe crackdown has escalated into a full military siege.
