The Independent’s Pride List of LGBT+ Changemakers Returns for June 2026

The Independent has announced the return of its iconic Pride List, recognising LGBT+ changemakers across the UK, to mark Pride month in June 2026. The publication has unveiled its 2026 Pride programme, encompassing editorial content, events, commercial collaborations, and industry initiatives.

The Independent has again partnered with Pride in London and will march at the Pride parade in July to promote visibility of the LGBT+ community. Rebecca Paisis, interim chief executive of Pride in London, said: “Visible and deliberate support for LGBT+ communities carries real weight against a growing global backdrop of injustice.”

First published in 2000 as the Pink List, the Pride List celebrates influential LGBT+ individuals across culture, politics, business, and activism. Last year’s honourees included Britain’s first transgender judge Dr Victoria McCloud, trans activist Juno Dawson, and actor and singer Cynthia Erivo.

The 2026 Pride List will be launched on 31 May, ahead of Pride month starting on 1 June, with a special event at Queer Britain, the UK’s only LGBT+ museum, on 3 June. The Independent will also produce a video interview series featuring the honourees, exploring their personal stories and achievements.

The partnership with Pride in London will include coverage of key issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities. In June, the publication will release a documentary by chief international correspondent Bel Trew on the persecution of LGBT+ people and the impact of foreign aid cuts on those living with HIV in Nigeria.

Editor-in-chief Geordie Greig said: “I am immensely proud of The Independent’s work in championing LGBT+ voices – not just during Pride, but through a year-round commitment to visibility, equality and fairness.” The Independent has also partnered with the7stars agency for AdLand Pride and will sponsor the NDA Media Pride Lunch in October.
