Greenland's delegation was greeted with applause and chanting in Nuuk on Wednesday after signing a security agreement with the United States and Denmark in New York.
Security pact signed in New York
The agreement, signed on 22 September by Donald Trump, Greenland's prime minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and the Danish prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, allows for an expanded US military presence on Greenland while reaffirming Greenland's right to self-determination.
End to long-running standoff
It comes after a long-running standoff over the strategically located and mineral-rich Arctic island.
