Emmerdale viewers have been left divided after spoilers revealed that Ross Barton and Laurel Thomas are set to begin a 'steamy' fling in upcoming episodes. The unexpected pairing has sparked outrage among some fans, who have branded them the 'least likely couple' in the village.
According to spoilers shared by Digital Spy, the chemistry between the two characters begins during dance lessons, where Laurel discovers Ross has surprisingly impressive moves. A statement reads: 'At Dale View, Laurel steals a steamy moment with Ross, who is chuffed to have the restaurateur all to himself.' However, things become awkward when Sam Dingle interrupts, forcing Ross to pretend Laurel is simply helping with dance training.
Actress Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Laurel, admitted the storyline comes 'completely out of the blue'. She explained: 'Ross and Laurel come about because we start these dancing lessons, which are really funny.' According to Charlotte, the pair grow closer while salsa dancing together, with things soon becoming unexpectedly 'steamy'. She compared the storyline to the 'Strictly effect', joking that dancing closely with someone can quickly change the atmosphere.
The romance begins shortly after Gabby Thomas is left upset over Ross rejecting her. While Ross later claims there's only 'one woman' he's interested in, Dawn Fletcher is left confused, although Laurel immediately realises who he means.
