Ted Lasso Season Four: Henry Lasso Role to Be Recast as Young Actor Asked to Re-Audition

Only four cast members from the hit Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso have been confirmed to return for the surprise fourth season, and at least one other cast member will very likely be recast. Deadline reported Tuesday that Gus Turner will be 'invited to re-audition' for the role of co-creator Jason Sudeikis' onscreen son Henry Lasso, as the part now requires an elevated level of soccer proficiency.

The British-American 11-year-old previously portrayed Henry in 11 episodes over the first three seasons of the critically-acclaimed sports dramedy, and he even won best newcomer at the UK's National Film Awards last year. Regardless, audiences can next catch Gus as Big Un (Theodore) in BBC One's upcoming four-part adaptation of William Golding's 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies.

Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Brett Goldstein (Roy), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie) have all been confirmed to return, while Juno Temple (Keeley) 'is still in negotiations' to join them. The 49-year-old SNL alum famously earned $1M per episode to produce, write, and star as the American amateur AFC Richmond coach, who suffered from panic attacks.

Last Friday, Sudeikis revealed on Jason and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast that 'Ted's coaching a women's team' next and admitted writing season four feels 'daunting because we told the story we wanted to tell, but there's more there.' Filming on the first episode will reportedly begin in the four-time Emmy winner's home state of Kansas.

It's also unclear if Andrea Anders, who played Henry's mother Michelle, will be returning. Ted Lasso co-creator Brendan Hunt has been working behind the scenes on producing and writing, but it's also unclear if he'll return as Coach Willis Beard. In the season three finale, Ted returned to the States to be closer to Henry, Beard remained in England to marry Jane, Roy became AFC Richmond's manager, Keeley pitched an AFC Richmond Women's Team to Rebecca, and Rebecca sold 49% of the team to the fans.
