Alex Cooper Confronts Brianna LaPaglia Over 'Mean Girl' Comments
Media personality Alex Cooper has publicly called out Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia for labeling her a 'mean girl,' releasing their private direct messages as evidence. This development intensifies the ongoing public feud involving Cooper and fellow influencer Alix Earle.
Social Media Confrontation Escalates
The 31-year-old Call Her Daddy podcast host took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to challenge what she described as a 'fake narrative' being propagated by LaPaglia. Cooper began her series of slides with a blunt message: 'This girl on girl s**t needs to stop.'
Cooper directly addressed LaPaglia's online comments, stating: 'Brianna, you coming online saying I'm a mean girl, that I'm going to get destroyed, in people's comments saying I hate Alex Cooper... Here are the facts. I have never met you in my life. The only communication we have ever had together is through dm.'
Private Messages Revealed
Cooper then shared screenshots of their private exchanges, which date back to 2022. The messages reveal a surprisingly cordial relationship between the two media figures.
In one early exchange, LaPaglia reached out to Cooper regarding a video clip that appeared to show her disrespecting the Call Her Daddy host. LaPaglia wrote: 'I'm sorry if when I said I haven't listened to call her daddy it came off rude, I always speak highly of you They cut clips to make me look like a c**t, you're the blue print <3.'
The messages continued through 2023 and 2024, with both women exchanging supportive comments. LaPaglia told Cooper: 'I just want you to know I think you're the queen of everything and always say that on my pod lmao.' Cooper responded warmly: 'I don't hate you at all I respect what ur building over there' and 'Omg lol love you all good over here.'
Support During Personal Struggles
The private messages show Cooper offering emotional support to LaPaglia following her breakup with singer Zach Bryan in October 2024. Cooper wrote: 'I'm so sorry u went through that s**t. it's horrifying that there are so many men like him out there. Thank you for speaking on it, it's gonna make a difference.'
LaPaglia responded that she felt 'embarrassed' for remaining in the relationship but was 'happy to be out.' Just days later, LaPaglia reached out again to ask Cooper for advice about traveling with dogs.
Business Relationships Clarified
In her Instagram slides, Cooper clarified several business matters between them. She stated that she never invited LaPaglia to appear as a guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Cooper also addressed Unwell Network's outreach to LaPaglia's former friend Grace O'Malley.
'As a business decision, Unwell then reached out and offered Grace a podcast. We never spoke negatively of you. Nothing negative happened during that time between Unwell, myself or you,' Cooper explained.
Cooper's Direct Challenge
Cooper concluded her message with a pointed question: 'So speaking of mean girls... I have never met you in my life. What I just showed is the only interaction we've ever had. And you hate me?'
She did offer one correction, noting that the pair had briefly crossed paths in 2021 during LaPaglia's BFFs podcast. Cooper ended with: 'Wow. Please go back and read the dms. That has never been the nature of our relationship. Now back to Alix. And no this is not a pr stunt.'
LaPaglia's Immediate Response
Shortly after Cooper's Instagram posts, LaPaglia responded on her own account. She dismissed suggestions that the drama was a publicity stunt, stating: 'Please guys, get a brain cell.'
LaPaglia revealed that Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy introduced her to Cooper, saying: 'I was a fan of Alex Cooper before I knew the wrath of f***ing Alex Cooper and what she does to people and how she treats people.'
She claimed friendship with Alix Earle, who allegedly confided in her about events from two years ago. 'She told me everything that transpired between those two, two years ago at the Super Bowl,' LaPaglia stated. 'She told me everything. It didn't happen between them at the Super Bowl, but that's when she told me everything.'
Allegations and Accusations
LaPaglia further alleged that Earle described Cooper as 'a very, very mean person.' She also claimed Cooper told Portnoy she didn't 'give a f***' about LaPaglia or Grace O'Malley, caring only about 'making money.'
'Yeah, maybe my f***ing narrative switched on you after I found things out about you. I used to be a fan,' LaPaglia concluded.
Background of the Cooper-Earle Feud
This latest confrontation follows Cooper's public address earlier in the week regarding her rumored feud with Alix Earle. In a TikTok video on Monday, Cooper called out Earle for 'passive aggressive reposts' and 'fake drama.'
Cooper challenged Earle directly: 'Hey girl, the passive aggressive reposts and the likes and the commenting on things - I've got to call you out here... You're going to need to get specific and just say what you've got to say about me.'
The relationship between Cooper and Earle has been strained since Earle joined Cooper's Unwell Network in August 2023 to host the Hot Mess podcast. Speculation about their falling out intensified last February when Earle's podcast dramatically left the Unwell Network.
Cooper addressed the departure at the time, stating: 'Alix not being able to podcast has nothing to do with Unwell. [I don't know] why she can't/what's going on.'
Media Empire Context
Alex Cooper stands as one of the world's highest-paid podcasters, having secured landmark deals including a $60 million agreement with Spotify and a $125 million contract with SiriusXM. She co-founded the media company Trending with her husband Matt Kaplan, under which the Unwell Network operates.
Representatives for Cooper, LaPaglia, Earle, and Portnoy did not immediately respond to requests for comment from media outlets regarding this escalating public dispute.
