The trip is described as a 'fact-finding mission' to study the internationally recognised 'Reggio Emilia Approach' to child development. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said the princess is looking forward to seeing how the approach creates environments that support children's development through nature and loving human relationships.
Kate's decision to travel solo has been interpreted as a potential blueprint for future engagements, with reports suggesting that as their children grow older, the couple are adjusting their duties. Prince William will remain in the UK to handle parenting responsibilities, including school runs for George, Charlotte, and Louis.
The visit coincides with the launch of the 'Foundations for Life' guide, a resource for early childhood care professionals. Kate unveiled the guide during a visit to the University of East London on Wednesday, where she observed researchers monitoring brainwaves in young children to study the importance of parental responses.
The Princess founded The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in 2021 to raise awareness of the impact of early years experiences on long-term societal health. This trip aims to connect the centre's 'Shaping Us Framework' with leading global approaches in early childhood development.
