At least 200 US service members have been wounded since the start of Operation Epic Fury, the US-Israeli war on Iran, a US military spokesperson confirmed on Monday. US Central Command Captain Tim Hawkins stated that the majority of injuries were minor, with 180 troops already returned to duty.
According to ABC News, injuries included burns, shrapnel wounds, and traumatic brain injuries, with at least ten personnel seriously wounded. The disclosure comes as 13 US service members have been killed in the conflict, including six in a refuelling plane crash in western Iraq and six in an Iranian drone strike on a Kuwaiti port.
More than 1,300 Iranians have been killed, alongside hundreds of civilians in Lebanon and 15 people in Israel, according to Iranian and Israeli officials. US President Donald Trump has made contradictory statements, urging allies to protect the Strait of Hormuz while suggesting the US should not do so due to its own oil reserves.
