Ukraine Drones Hit Russian Electronic Warfare Plant, Disrupt Rail and Air Travel

Ukraine's drone forces struck the Signal radio and electronic warfare equipment plant in the Stavropol region on Saturday night, according to an official from Ukraine's SBU security service. Two facilities at the plant, about 540km from the Ukrainian border, were damaged. Videos online showed an explosion and a large column of dark smoke. The plant is a leading Russian producer of electronic warfare equipment, including radar and radio navigation gear.

Russia's civil aviation authority suspended flights at Volgograd airport after Ukrainian drone attacks. Ukrainian drones also hit a railway power supply in the Volgograd region, local officials said. Air raid alerts were issued in several western and southern Russian regions. Drones targeted Moscow and an industrial facility in the Penza oblast, according to regional officials. In the Rostov region, two people were killed by Ukrainian drones.

In Ukraine, the Dnipro region came under combined rocket and drone attack, killing at least two and wounding five, said regional head Serhii Lysak. In Sumy, three people were injured after Russian drones hit a central square and damaged the regional administration building. Kharkiv suffered an intense aerial bombardment, with six people hurt, including four rescuers in a 'double tap' attack.

Ukraine's air force reported that Russia launched 208 drones and 27 missiles overnight, with air defences intercepting 183 drones and 17 missiles. Hits from 10 missiles and 25 drones were recorded in nine locations. Russia's defence ministry claimed its forces captured the villages of Zelenyi Hai in Donetsk and Maliivka in Dnipropetrovsk, though Ukraine's military said attacks on Zelenyi Hai were repelled.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi identified Pokrovsk as an area requiring 'special attention' due to constant Russian attacks. A military spokesperson described the assaults as a 'small torrent that simply does not stop'. Zelenskyy noted 'successful actions' in Sumy. Russia claimed it struck Ukrainian facilities manufacturing missile components and explosives, but this could not be independently verified.
