The United States announced new sanctions against over a dozen Iranian individuals and entities accused of being 'architects' of the crackdown and of laundering revenue from oil sales. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that 'President Trump stands with the people of Iran' in imposing these measures.
The UN Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting on the crackdown following a request by the US. Meanwhile, Canada confirmed the death of a Canadian citizen at the hands of Iranian authorities, and New Zealand's foreign minister condemned the 'brutal crackdown' including the killing of protesters.
