A Russian general has issued a chilling warning that Britain could become a primary target in a potential World War Three, citing UK support for Ukraine's missile and drone strikes against Russian forces. Major-General Nikolay Plotnikov, a reservist, made the remarks on Russian state television, accusing British prime ministers of being responsible for thwarting Vladimir Putin's invasion.
Plotnikov claimed that the UK is providing targeting data for Ukraine's missile systems, making Britain a legitimate target in any future conflict. He singled out former prime ministers Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Rishi Sunak, and current leader Sir Keir Starmer, calling for criminal cases to be opened against them. The general also implicated French President Emmanuel Macron, alleging that Britain and France are jointly responsible for a massive drone strike on Russia on 7 May.
On that day, Russia claimed to have intercepted 524 drones, though some reportedly evaded air defences and struck military targets. Russian sources also reported shooting down five Neptune missiles, six JDAM bombs, and two HIMARS rockets. The general's comments were echoed by Vladimir Solovyov, a leading Kremlin propagandist, who demanded strikes on Britain using Poseidon high-speed atomic underwater drones or the Sarmat intercontinental nuclear missile.
Plotnikov stated, 'The time will come, I think the time will come, yes,' in response to Solovyov's call for nuclear action. The threats are the latest from Russian state media, which has increasingly blamed Britain for Moscow's failures in Ukraine. The UK has been a key ally of Ukraine, providing military aid and intelligence since the start of the invasion in 2022.
