At the current rate, the month's total is projected to reach around 46,000, with losses running at an average of 1,534 per day. This would make September one of the three bloodiest months of the war for President Vladimir Putin, who has continued the conflict despite the heavy toll on Russian troops.

Meanwhile, Russia has continued hammering the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, with intense strikes for seven consecutive days.
