Kyiv has been subjected to drone attacks for the third consecutive night, with Russian forces launching a pre-dawn assault that sent residents scrambling for shelters. One person was killed and 34 others injured, including two children, after debris struck a residential building, according to reports.
Ukrainian air defence forces successfully destroyed 29 out of 31 Shahed drones, but three more fatalities were reported at other locations across the country. The attacks come as Moscow accuses Ukraine of 'terrorism' following a separate drone assault on the Russian capital.
The Russian defence ministry claimed that five drones were shot down and three were jammed in what is described as one of the deepest strikes inside Russia since the war began. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported 'insignificant damage' to several buildings, with two people receiving medical attention but not requiring hospitalisation.
The effectiveness of Russia's air defence systems has been questioned after the second drone assault on Moscow in a month. Meanwhile, the UK has pledged to supply 'long-range attack drones' to Kyiv, though the Prime Minister's official spokesman expressed confidence that no British equipment was used in the reported attack on Moscow, declining to speculate on the origin of the attacks.
