Amazon MGM has confirmed that auditions are underway to find the next actor to portray James Bond. The casting process is being led by Nina Gold, whose credits include Game of Thrones and several Star Wars films.
In a statement to Variety, Amazon MGM said: “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”
The identity of the next 007 has been the subject of intense speculation since Daniel Craig departed the role after 2021’s No Time To Die. That speculation intensified after longtime producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli handed over creative control to Amazon in February 2025.
Several actors have been rumoured for the role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi, and most recently Callum Turner. The Independent’s Adam White described Turner as “perfect for this”, noting his height, dark hair, and suitability for the role.
It was reported last September that Denis Villeneuve, who will direct the first Bond film of the Amazon era, might be searching for an “unknown” actor. Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is writing the script, with the film not expected until 2028.
