Two people have been charged after allegedly attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland, which houses the UK's Trident nuclear submarines. The base, commonly known as Faslane, is the home of the UK's submarine fleet and nuclear deterrent.
Police Scotland confirmed that a 34-year-old Iranian man and a 31-year-old Romanian woman were arrested and charged in connection with the incident. They are due to appear at Dumbarton sheriff court on Monday.
The incident occurred around 5pm on Thursday, 19 March 2026, when the pair allegedly tried to enter the base. A police spokesperson stated that inquiries are ongoing.
The Royal Navy previously reported that two individuals unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to the facility, which is a key site for the UK's nuclear capabilities.
