An explosion and subsequent fire at a defence company in South Korea on Monday has resulted in five fatalities and two injuries, according to officials.
The incident occurred at a Hanwha Aerospace worksite in the city of Daejeon. Emergency official Yoon Seong-su stated that the area is a government-designated security facility.
Local medical official Kim Ju-yeon reported that one of the injured individuals is in critical condition. Authorities have yet to identify the deceased.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown. The site is a key facility for Hanwha Aerospace, where it develops large propellants and surface-to-surface weapon systems, according to Yonhap news agency.
