Netflix has announced that 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth', the sequel to Quentin Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', will receive a two-week Imax theatrical release starting November 25, 2026, before streaming on Netflix from December 23, 2026. The film, directed by David Fincher from a script by Tarantino, stars Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role as Cliff Booth.
The movie is set in 1977 and explores a very different Hollywood. The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller. The Imax release fills the slot previously held by Greta Gerwig's 'Narnia: The Magician's Nephew', which moved to February 2027.
Buzz has been building since 2024 when Pitt and Fincher teamed on the project, originally intended for Tarantino to direct. After Tarantino gave his blessing, Netflix became the natural home due to Fincher's exclusive deal with the streamer. Rumours of a potential festival premiere, particularly at Venice, now seem less likely given the November release date.
Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Cliff Booth in Tarantino's 2019 film 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
