Police are intensifying their search for a Victorian man who vanished while hiking on a popular trail in Western Australia three months ago. Samuel Whitsed, 27, was last seen on 18 February near the Bibbulmun Track, a renowned walking route on the outskirts of Perth.
Search Efforts Underway
Authorities have been scouring dense bushland in the area after growing concerns for Whitsed's welfare. Footage released on Saturday shows officers, rangers, and volunteers navigating rugged terrain and thick vegetation in a bid to locate the missing hiker.
Between 28 April and 7 May, search teams meticulously examined the vicinity around Canning Hut and Brookton Campsite following the discovery of a tent believed to belong to Whitsed. Despite these efforts, no further trace of him has been found.
Appeal for Public Assistance
Police have urged anyone with information on Whitsed's whereabouts to come forward. He is described as approximately 170cm to 180cm tall, with a slim to medium build, short brown hair, a beard, and a moustache. He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt or light-coloured jumper, black trousers, and slides.
Whitsed is believed to have traveled from Victoria to Western Australia specifically to hike the Bibbulmun Track. He was last spotted carrying camping gear and heading towards the trail on Brookton Highway, near Albany Highway.
Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any sightings or information that could assist in locating the missing man.
