Ed Sheeran is set to finance a new youth centre in his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk, to replace an existing facility that is due to close. The singer-songwriter will fund the project through his Framlingham Foundation Trust and a new charity, Fram Fam, which he will personally support.
The proposed centre, provisionally named Fram Fam, will be managed by local individuals, including some of Sheeran's former schoolmates, who have extensive community work experience. Planning documents lodged with East Suffolk Council state that the facility will 'replace and significantly enhance' the current youth club, which is expected to close this Easter.
The new building will be a multi-functional space for children aged 0 to 18, offering an art studio, rehearsal spaces, library, cookery room, garden, and more. A separate gym on the site will be open to the public. The centre will place a strong emphasis on the arts, reflecting Sheeran's passion.
The planning application, for land owned by Framlingham Sports Club, is awaiting a decision. If approved, construction could begin in spring or summer 2026. A source said that without this centre, there would be no long-term youth provision in Framlingham.
Sheeran, 35, has a history of charitable work in the area, including donations to his former school, Thomas Mills High School. He has achieved 14 UK number one singles and nine UK number one albums.
