A refuse collector known as a 'bin-fluencer' has shared two simple rules to prevent your rubbish from being left behind. Ashley, who regularly posts tips on social media, warned against jumping into wheelie bins to compact waste.
In a recent video, Ashley explained that overloading bins can cause them to break. 'If you go down the kerb and it busts the wheel, you're gonna have a broken bin, and next time they won't be taken,' he said.
He advised recycling more and spreading rubbish across different bins rather than overfilling the general waste bin. 'Just take it to the tip, maybe probably recycle more. Use the other bins instead of just your general waste bin, it helps everybody,' Ashley added.
The binman also highlighted the physical strain on workers, saying: 'Please do not overfill your bins and make them really heavy because it's just not fun, trying to move a heavy bin, putting your back out.'
