Alex Jones, presenter of BBC's The One Show, has confirmed a significant schedule shake-up for the popular programme. During Thursday evening's broadcast, Jones revealed that the show would be taken off air on Friday, May 22, to make way for coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show.
Schedule Changes Announced
Co-hosting alongside Roman Kemp, Jones informed viewers as the episode concluded: "We are off air tomorrow to make way for the Chelsea Flower Show, but we will be back on Monday at the earlier time of 6.30pm." The One Show typically airs Monday to Friday at 7pm on BBC One, but this week's final instalment was pre-empted by the flower show coverage. The earlier start time next week marks a temporary adjustment for the magazine-style programme.
Thursday's Episode Highlights
Thursday's show featured a range of guests, including comedian Tom Allen, who discussed his debut novel Common Decency. Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy also appeared, opening up about her decision to return to college to train as a carer after caring for her father before his death. Cassidy shared: "I've just been growing up with care all my life. My nan lived with me. My mum cared for my nan. And yeah, my dad, right up until the end of his life, lived with me, and I cared for him. So this is a real, real important passion project for me."
The programme also featured interviews with the four remaining teams from the latest series of Race Across the World, competing for a £20,000 prize. The teams—Jo and Kush, Katie and Harrison, Molly and Andrew, and Mark and Margo—were tasked with travelling from Europe "to the uncharted edges of Mongolia" in what the BBC describes as the "toughest journey yet." They reflected on the experience ahead of the final episode airing Thursday night.
The One Show returns to BBC One on Monday at 6.30pm.
