The study considered factors such as life expectancy, property prices, care home costs, green spaces, and leisure facilities. The Victorian resort offers a promenade between the Great and Little Orme headlands.

Exeter led a ranking by The Telegraph and Savills, which considered hospitals, GPs, dentists, shops, and green spaces. The south coast city is described as compact and convenient, with heritage, boutique shops, and a lively social atmosphere. Merton in South West London and Richmond-upon-Thames took second and third places respectively.
