Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks has teased that four beloved characters are set to take centre stage in major storylines that will 'upend their lives'. The ITV soap's producer revealed that Sally and Tim Metcalfe, Bernie Winter, and Debbie Webster will all feature prominently in the coming months.
Speaking to The Mirror, Brooks said Sally and Tim will face a 'curveball' that tests them as individuals, a couple, and as foster parents. She added that the story will also dovetail with a future plot involving Christina Boyd, hinting at a connection between the characters.
Bernie Winter, meanwhile, will be at the heart of a 'massive' storyline involving Kit Green and her family dynamic, expected to air in late spring or early summer. Brooks described the actors playing Christina, Glenda, Sally, Debbie, and Bernie as 'phenomenal' and said their warmth and comedy is 'contagious'.
Debbie Webster's own plot was described as 'phenomenal', with Brooks confirming it will also involve Bernie and Christina. The boss remained coy on full details but said more will be revealed as the storylines air.
Additionally, the identity of Theo Silverton's killer will be uncovered in the coming months, with Brooks confirming viewers will finally learn who committed the crime and why. Cast members have teased the culprit will surprise fans.
