Ed Miliband has handed the country some good news for once, according to GB News star Thomas Corbett-Dillon, after his attempts to take over Brexit negotiations were rebuffed. The foreign secretary was accused of trying to "grab" the role after Andy Burnham sacked previous Brexit minister Nick Thomas-Symonds, but his meeting in Brussels didn't go as planned.

Dissecting the latest developments on GB News, host Ben Leo asked Corbett-Dillon: "You used to work for Boris, did some bits and bobs for him. What do you make of this? This is apparently Ed Miliband reportedly seizing his opportunity and trying to get his mitts over Brussels negotiations."
Corbett-Dillon responded: "Good on him, good for trying. I think if you were in the position you'd probably want to do that too. I'm grateful they didn't, because I imagine the negotiation would consist of us basically rejoining the EU if he had his way!"
He added: "So this is good news, I suppose. But once again, I really don't know why this guy is anywhere near power. I don't think anyone, particularly in DC, rates him or has any time for him. I don't think he's representing the UK very well at all."

Leo clarified: "He met Rubio two days ago, didn't he?" Corbett-Dillon replied: "Yeah, did you see Rubio's statement? He basically said, 'Good luck, you guys are on your own, there's no help coming from the US'. Because this guy's an idiot.
"And remember, his brother runs the largest refugee charity in the world, so he is not popular. The whole family are not popular in DC, let me tell you. So they are not doing too good here."
David Miliband is linked to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the largest global non-profit focused on refugee relief and resettlement.
