Andy Burnham has appointed dozens of junior government ministers after revealing his Cabinet. The new Prime Minister has promised to deliver “the biggest change to British politics for 40 years”. He has already axed a string of ministers from his predecessor Sir Keir Starmer’s top team.
New ministers of state

John Healey has replaced Rachel Reeves as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Ed Miliband is the new Foreign Secretary, replacing Yvette Cooper. Shabana Mahmood will remain Home Secretary. Alex Norris is the new Justice Secretary, replacing David Lammy. Yvette Cooper is the new Health Secretary, replacing James Murray. Wes Streeting is the new Defence Secretary, replacing Dan Jarvis. Louise Haigh is the new Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, also Minister for the Cabinet Office and First Secretary of State, taking in the role of Deputy Prime Minister, replacing Darren Jones. Pat McFadden will remain as Work and Pensions Secretary. Lucy Powell is the new Education Secretary, replacing Bridget Phillipson, who remains in Cabinet as Minister for Women and Equalities.
