Wonderskin's new 12-hour blush mimics semi-permanent make-up– and I've tried every shade. We put Wonderskin's new £20 semi-permanent makeup-inspired blush to the test.
This summer’s blush launches all seem to be chasing the same thing: colour that actually survives a full day on your face. After years of overly powdery formulas disappearing by lunchtime, or dewy cream blushers sliding off the second temperatures rise above 20 degrees, a new generation of long-wear stains has arrived, promising serious staying power without a dry, cakey finish.
As a professional blush collector, I will always find room in my make-up bag for another one, but when I read that Wonderskin’s new Wonder Blading All-Day Blush Stain is semi-permanent make-up inspired, I cleared my blush roster in anticipation. The idea of a blush which mimics cheek tinting while still looking natural on the skin sounded almost too good to be true– especially in the middle of a heatwave.
The New Wonderskin Wonder Blading Blush
Launching in six shades, the £20 blush stain has been designed to mimic the longevity of professional cheek tinting without the commitment (or sting). The formula blends like a cream initially before setting down into a transfer-proof stain designed to survive heat, sweat and busy days.
The shades are good too, not just variations of the same pink. There’s everything from soft rosy taupes to deeper berry tones and bright corals. My personal favourite is Whimsy, a cool lilac-pink that looks both fresh and vibrant on the skin – a perfect summer shade.
The Wonder Blading Formula in a Nutshell
- Semi-permanent make-up inspired blush stain
- Designed to last up to 12 hours, though I found it lasted even longer
- Blendable cream texture that sets into a transfer-proof stain
- Contains hyaluronic acid and peptides for a smoother finish
- Six shades ranging from soft neutrals to bright summer tones
- Buildable formula that doesn’t turn patchy or cakey
Mirror Beauty Lead Zoe Says
I’ve tried each of the six shades now, in the name of proper research, and there really is something for every skin tone. The finish sits nicely between a stain and a soft-focus cream blush, so skin still looks like skin rather than heavily powdered or overly shiny (it works for Hailey Bieber, but not for my oil-prone skin). Most importantly, it lasts.
I wore Whimsy through a full workday, a humid tube journey and dinner afterwards, and it was still visible by the time I removed my make-up that evening– well beyond the promised 12 hours. The finish is also lovely. There’s none of the cakey heaviness some long-wear formulas develop throughout the day, and because it sets into the skin rather than sitting on top of it, the colour looks much more natural and fresh.
Long-lasting blushers are definitely having a moment this summer, particularly as more people move away from heavy foundation towards lighter, skin-first make-up. If you like this stain formula but want another option, Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is another of my go-tos for warm days when my skin seems to want to expel any product I put on it.
